(CNN) – Retirees now have another option for how to spend their golden years; how does life on a cruise ship sound?
A 77-year-old woman from California is doing just that.
Sharon Lane moved onto the Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship in mid-June.
Villa Vie Odyssey is a new residential ship that travels around the world.
It set sail in September 2024.
Cabins are sold on a permanent basis, or at least for 15 years, starting at $129,000 for an inside stateroom.
Monthly fees of $3,000 for single occupancy are additional.

It’s not cheap, but Lane says compared to living in California, it’s a deal.
Food and soft drinks are free on the ship. So is alcohol at dinner, Wi-Fi and medical visits.
There’s also entertainment, room service, weekly housekeeping and bi-weekly laundry service at no extra cost.
There are still cabins available to purchase.
Villa Vie Odyssey owners can also rent their cabin out to others. But according to the cruise company, most owners have bought their cabin with the intention of living on board.
